Original reclaimed late Georgian or early Victorian oak cased dead lock with applied Arts & Crafts decorative banding.
This lock has been rather crudely extended in size by the addition of another three pieces of oak to top,bottom & end with basic butt joints.At the same time,probally during the Arts & Crafts period the decorative steel banding & escutcheon have been applied.The additional pieces are worm holed (treated) particulary the top,but give it great character.There is some good figuring to the face of the original oak case.The Georgian wire bow key is a long 8.3/4".
For right hand fitting.Supplied with later cast iron keep.
