Original reclaimed and refurbished high quality large Victorian steel cased lockable rim latch by Chubb & Son dating from circa 1850.
Extremely scarce lock complete with it's original key (stamped Chubbs patent,along with their address) and heavy brass edged keep.Marketed as a "detector" lock because any attempt to pick it would result in the key hole being blanked off.
The lock case has a superb manufacturers lablel (see below).
Accepts standard size spindle for door knobs.For left hand fitting.
Lock body measures 8" x 6.3/8" x 1.3/8".Keep 2" wide.
Spindle 6.3/8" from door edge and 4.1/4" from case top.
Key hole 3.1/8" and 3.1/2".
